Austrian Grand Prix Recap

ACT

Pre Race

RED BULL RING 👊 😈 🇦🇹

The second part of the 2024 Formula 1 season’s first triple header is well underway in Spielberg, where the Austrian Grand Prix takes place this weekend. It’s the 11th round of the championship, it’s a Sprint weekend, and it’s started well as Kevin Magnussen finished Friday’s Sprint qualifying in P11.

“I really like the Red Bull Ring, it’s a fun track. I’ve got some good memories from here; it’s where we’ve had our best team result, so I look forward to going here again. We have quite an efficient car, so hopefully with our good straight-line speed, we can be good there. There are still a fair number of high-speed corners, which are perhaps not our strength, but we seem to be pretty consistently good at most tracks. I’m just looking forward to a fun Sprint weekend,” said Kevin.

DID YOU KNOW THAT … The first races in Spielberg took place on the Zeltweg airfield before a permanent racetrack, the Österreichring, was built in 1969. In the nineties, F1 circuit designer Hermann Tilke turned the circuit into a shorter, more modern racetrack – before it was finally purchased by Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz and renamed (surprise) Red Bull Ring. Picturesquely located in the idyllic Styrian mountains, the 4.3km long Austrian racetrack is one of the shortest on the calendar, which makes the race quite busy. The circuit is packed with exciting sections, including the exhilarating Rindt right-hander, named in honour of Austria’s first Formula 1 champion.

Quali Day

RACING TIME 🔥🔥🔥

After finishing 9th in Saturday’s Sprint race at Red Bull Ring, Kevin Magnussen qualified 12th for Sunday’s Grand Prix. The Admin By Request powered Formula 1 driver is positive before the big race, where he’s in a good starting position for points!

“The Sprint was pretty good. I was able to manage my tires well, and 9th was the best we could do. In qualifying, I didn’t find myself as competitive on the soft tire compared to the other compounds, but P12 is a decent starting position to go for some points in the Grand Prix,” Kevin said.

Race Recap

“It makes me very happy for the entire team”

Wow! The Austrian Grand Prix was a GOOD one for Kevin Magnussen and the MoneyGram Haas F1 Team As Kevin finished 8th and Nico 6th it was the season’s first double points finish, which lifts the team up to seventh place in the Constructors’ Championship, on 19 points.

“It’s been a smooth weekend! Two qualifying sessions with no traffic, two good pit stops in the race, and the strategy has been spot on – I couldn’t have asked for more. We can’t count on this result as Silverstone is a hard track, but this puts us back to P7 in the Constructors’ Championship and that makes me very happy for the entire team.”

Well done, Kevin and team! We’re crossing our fingers for another strong result in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, which takes place this weekend!
